Minot, N.D. – As the MI-7-Roosevelt Park and Zoo phase of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) continues construction into the fall, and many league plays have been completed for the season, the park will be closed for the season on Monday, September 8th, 2025 and will open in the spring of 2026 once construction crews have gotten onto the site to clean the area from winter and spring weather.
There has been a lot of progress made on this project in the past 4 months; there is levee placed, flood wall footings poured, much of the flood walls panels placed, and utilities work in the park and zoo completed despite a wet spring and summer. To make sure all fall work is completed before winter, it is best to have less pedestrian and car traffic in the park so crews can move forward with finishing larger construction projects for the season and other items which need to be moved within the park to reset for the next phases of construction.
Effectively on Monday, September 8th the pickleball courts and park entrance will not be open to the public. This is decision is made for the safety of residents and providing the project team to move forward to meet deadlines for the overall project completion.
