On occasion a reminder of the full footprint of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) is good for all of those following as we move through flood protection. This project covers 4 counties: Bottineau County, REnville County, Ward County and McHenry County. This means there are urban projects working through a larger population, city infrastructure, transportation corridors, and public buildings and facilities but we have a large rural footprint impacted by this project. We have completed the Sawyer Bridge Replacement project, currently are working on the Mouse River Bridge Replacement project and will now be sharing information on another large pirce of instrfrastructure in McHenry County - Velva Bridge Replacement Project.
The Souris River Joint Board (SRJB) will hold a public information meeting in Thursday, Marcy 19, 2026, to present the current plans for Phase VE-1 Velva Bridge Replacement PRoject as part of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Plan (MREFPP). This meeting will focus on sharing the engineerd and NDDOT bridge plan, details tied to the schedule, and potential impacts to the community and its residents.
SRJB members and representatives from the engineering team will provide a formal presentation and answer questions from the public. Attendees will have an opportunity before and after the presentation to talk to project officials.
