Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project Phase BU-1A Burlington Colton Avenue Bridge Replacemen

Burlington, N.D. – The Souris River Joint Board (SRJB) celebrated the groundbreaking for the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) Phase BU-1A Burlington Colton Avenue Bridge Replacement Project today in Burlington. Burlington Mayor Jeanine Kabanuk stated “Though these are the first steps our community will be able to physically see, this project has been in the works since shortly after the flood in 2011. Souris River Joint Board Announces Preliminary Field Work in Velva, Sawyer and Mouse River Park

Minot, N.D. – Design work was initiated late last year and will continue through the summer on the Velva, Sawyer and Mouse River Park Bridge Replacements as a part of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (Mouse River Plan). Initial plans include the replacement of the Highway 41 bridge in Velva and the Highway 23 bridge in Sawyer. The new bridges will be raised and lengthened, in order to increase conveyance through these areas. The 95th Street Bridge at Mouse River Park will also be replaced, and additional measures will be included to alleviate flooding across the roadway.
